Supermodel's thoughts on becoming a model.
Beginning My Modeling Journey

Every model gets their start someplace. Mine was at a hair show for natural beauty manufacturer Aveda.

I was 18 and found an ad in the paper looking for models. I decided to answer, and found myself at one of Aveda's marketing offices for an open call. Before I knew it, I had orders to be at the venue that weekend.

When I got there, the models were put with stylists as sample heads for different techniques. Remember the television show, “Friends”? My stylist did the Rachel haircut on me, and added glue-in red extensions. It looked pretty cool.

However, there was a fashion show that was happening near the end of the day. They were short some models, and I asked if I could stand in. Surprise – they said yes. So, I got to model organic pjs on the runway. I ended the day with a newfound jones for modeling, along with a bag full of free Aveda products.

So, it just goes to show you that people start of in the industry from small beginnings. Keep shooting for those jobs, and you never know what will show up.
