Overview
You probably have seen the ads from the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. Instead of stick-thin models, they feature normal-size women in their skivvies. In addition, these Dove models never before worked as models--they were everyday women who were spotted by talent scouts. You can become a Dove model too by taking the following steps.
How to Become a Dove Model
Step 1
Today, most new Dove models are chosen at open casting calls. Recently, the soap company held nationwide casting calls in Canada, where about 10 new models were hired. Visit the Dove website (dove.com) to stay abreast of new casting calls.
Step 2
Once you find out about a new casting call, make your travel arrangements and go there. If you really want to become a Dove model, you may have to travel as far as New York City or a similar metropolitan area. These casting calls are open, so you don't have to book a ticket to access them.
Step 3
Once you get there, be prepared to stand in a long line. Since Dove casting calls are not restricted to professional models, there will be many women of all ages and backgrounds waiting for their chance to grace a billboard or a magazine ad.
Step 4
Bring lingerie or tight-fitting clothing to the casting call. It's likely that Dove representatives may ask you to strip to your lingerie in order to gauge if your body type fits their message.
Step 5
Prepare a pitch about yourself to the Dove representatives by the time your name is called. Tell them why you are the perfect candidate for a Dove model and the positive qualities you could bring to their campaign. You may also be asked questions about which part of your body you like the most. You may also be asked to tell a funny story about yourself.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : Remember that Dove looks for models who have no previous experience as models.
Also, remember that Dove wants women who fit a broad range of sizes: sizes 4-12. So if you are below size 4, you may have a harder time explaining your eligibility to the Dove representatives.
