Overview

how become face model : Overview
There are lots of different kinds of models in the world: runway, print, petites, teen, kids, plus size, parts and even face models. Face models are men and women who have perfectly symmetric, stunning faces. Face models are often employed by makeup companies that need a perfect slate on which to show their products. Becoming a face model requires that you have perfect skin, hair and teeth, plus the abilities to express your emotions well and take a good photo.

Step 1

Keep your skin clean and clear. Moisturize daily and use sunscreen and hats to prevent sun damage such as sun spots, wrinkles and crows feet. Exfoliate your skin weekly to make sure you always have a perfect new layer of skin to show off. Take care of your hair and teeth as well, because a face model needs to have healthy teeth and hair.

Step 2

Find a headshot photographer. Schedule a session to have photos taken. Look through magazines and pull out photos of makeup ads and skin care ads. Notice the poses, lighting styles and looks they have in common. This is what you want to mimic in your photos. Practice these makeup techniques and poses in the mirror until you have them mastered.

Step 3

Have your headshots taken. Take some photos with full makeup and others with minimal makeup (such as foundation or powder only). You want to show off your skin. With the makeup shots, highlight your best features, such as your eyes, lips or cheekbones. If you don't have an agent, you will need to get signed with one. Look for open calls to attend at reputable agencies and send your headshot and resume to various agencies with a cover letter stating that you are seeking an agent for face modeling. If they are interested, they will call you in for an interview.

Step 4

You will be called in for interviews, go-sees and auditions for jobs. Go in with little to no makeup so they can see your natural beauty and skin. This is especially important for skin care products; those jobs will have you wearing very little makeup. Be personable and take directions.

Step 5

Save the clippings and magazine tear sheets from jobs you book and work. Create a portfolio of work that you can take on bigger job auditions, for which employers will ask to see your portfolio, which will include spokesperson jobs and major campaign work. Continue to maintain your image and stay current with the makeup and hair trends.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : Get weekly facials to keep your skin in the best condition possible.
  • WARNING : Don't ever go out into the sun without protection, preferably a hat and sunblock. This will ruin your skin and end your career.
