How to Become a Model at 14

Overview

how become model 14 : Overview
Many young women decide to become a model at age14. This tends to be a good age to begin considering a modeling career. Most girls are close to their adult height and have the combination girl/woman look that is idealized in the modeling industry. Most models will hit their career prime in their late teens and early twenties. Becoming a model at 14 allows plenty of time to gain experience prior to that.

Step 1

Consider whether you have stopped growing. Find out how tall you are in your bare feet. Be honest, since all your measurements will be checked by modeling professionals later. If you are at least 5 feet 7 inches tall you can consider becoming a model at 14. If you are not that tall yet, consider how tall your parents are and when they stopped growing. If you are not as tall as them yet, you might be able to become a model when you are older. Also measure your bust, waist and hips. Record this information, along with your dress size, weight, hair color, eye color and shoe size.

Step 2

Take a few pictures. You will need 8 x 10 inch prints of your face and body. They do not need to be expensive professional photographs. Your parents can take them. Just make sure that they are in focus and showcase your features. Modeling agents want to see your natural attributes, not heavy makeup and special effects. Show them how photogenic you are.

Step 3

Show your photographs to modeling agents. If you live in major modeling centers such as New York or Los Angeles you can make an appointment at their offices. Call them up and see when they interview potential new models. Fourteen-year-olds should bring at least one parent with them. Top modeling agencies such as Ford, Elite and Click will refer you to other legitimate agencies if they are not interested. This is a far better way to find a modeling agent than answering an ad. Legitimate modeling agencies do not need to advertise for models. If you don't live near a modeling headquarters you can mail or email your photographs. Call ahead to find out where to submit them.

Step 4

Consider your offers. If you become a model at 14 and you have multiple offers of representation from top modeling agencies, then you are something special. Carefully consider who you want to work with. You must get along with your agent and be satisfied with the level of attention you will get. Be sure that you and your parents understand the terms of any contract offered. If you are not getting offers for representation ask those rejecting you why they are not interested. It may or may not be something you can control.

Step 5

Attend as many auditions as you can. This is the tough part about becoming a model at 14. You will go on dozens of auditions but get very few jobs. You must be willing to devote the time and effort to do this. It requires the help of parents to drive you to auditions and give you permission to miss school.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • WARNING : The modeling industry is full of scam artists preying on the dreams of aspiring models. Beware of anyone who promises success if you pay for a service. Legitimate modeling agencies get you work and do not ask you to pay before you get a job.
