Overview

how become model actress : Overview
Human models are employed to help fashion designers show off their finished designs. Actresses are employed to act to give life and animation to fictional characters or to recite words from a script. Many people dream of being the muse of a renowned creative styling genius or creating a memorable performance in front of thousands of movie screens. In order to become a model or actress there are certain steps you can take to help increase your chances of getting hired.

Step 1

Attend classes. Many major universities and colleges have drama departments. You can get a college degree in acting. If you don't want to go to college you can take acting classes from specialized schools. Here you will learn everything, from how to walk without looking awkward to how to create a realistic foreign accent. Would-be models should consider attending drama school as well. They can learn how to work with cameras and photographers.

Step 2

Get professional pictures taken. When you look for modeling or acting jobs you may be asked to leave a picture of yourself as well as a resume. You should have complete pictures of your body and specific photographs of your head and torso -- these are called headshots. Professional quality pictures will convey to potential employers that you are serious about your aspirations. All pictures should show off your best side. For example, if you have large eyes and long eyelashes, use makeup that emphasizes them.

Step 3

Audition for parts. Auditions are tryouts where agents and scouts get to meet with possible models and actresses. There are many places to find out about auditions. One of the best sources is model and acting industry trade magazines, which are specialty magazines covering these industries. These include "Variety," "Backstage" and "Model Look."

Step 4

Find an agent. Agents represent models and actresses. A good agent can help you find work as well as make sure your best interests are represented in any acting or modeling contract. Many agencies hold periodic calls for new faces and talent, which are called open calls and walk-ins. Auditions can take place singly or in groups.

Step 5

Start small. You may not be immediately cast as the lead actress in a multimillion dollar movie or land on the cover of Vogue the second you move to New York City. In the meantime, don't overlook other possibilities. Potential actresses should search out student filmmakers. Models just beginning their careers should seek out calls for models at fashion schools. A beginner can offer you the chance to hone your craft and can lead to bigger roles as his business expands.
