Overview
Alloy and Pacsun models are naturally beautiful with a sun-kissed glow and lean bodies. The allure of modeling for these catalogs is undeniable, but in order to get paid for wearing the latest fashions one must first become a professional model. From finding representation to going on go-sees, and learning how you might become an Alloy and Pacsun model, you can learn about becoming a successful model from our guide below.
How To Become a Professional Model
Step 1
In order to model for Alloy or Pacsun, a person must first become an established model with agent representation. Agent representation is obtained by visiting different modeling agencies and meeting with agents who will determine whether they want to take the person on as a model. Legitimate agents will never ask for money up front to represent someone; they should work off the commissions for modeling jobs booked by their clients.
Step 2
Once an aspiring model has secured a reputable agent, she must acquire a portfolio of head shots that the agent can send to prospective clients. Since professional photographers can be expensive, many new models turn to budding fashion photographers who are also looking to build their own portfolio. Some photographers just starting out will provide a free photo shoot if the aspiring model allows them to use the pictures in their photography portfolio.
Step 3
Once the aspiring model has a portfolio of pictures, the agent will begin sending out the pictures to companies, catalogs and websites looking for models that fit the person's description. Because the client dictates the specific type of models they need for their campaign, models do not get to choose which magazines, catalogs or advertisements they appear in.
Step 4
Since it is rare that unknown models can book a job based solely on their portfolio, a 'go-see' is usually required to secure a modeling job. Go-sees involve meeting with the prospective client, posing for a few casual photos, or a brief interview that helps the client get to know the model in person and choose the ideal model for their campaign.
Step 5
Since modeling is a competitive industry, most go-sees will probably not result in a modeling job, especially in the beginning. Becoming comfortable during a go-see takes experience and practice - the more you do it, the better you will become and the more likely you are to book that dream modeling job for Alloy or Pacsun.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : Do not pay for agent representation. Reputable, well-known modeling agents and agencies will not ask for money up front.
Eat a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and lean protein, and make sure to squeeze in at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week for a lean, toned model's physique.
Always arrive on time for go-sees, or risk being eliminated from the pool of contenders.
During go-sees, be polite, friendly and courteous to everyone from the receptionist to the client - people talk within an office, so being rude to an assistant can come back to haunt an aspiring model.
