India is known for its large market for modeling and acting. The launch of Indian Vogue and other high fashion magazines has created a demand for Indian models. The emergence of Indian fashion designers has also resulted in a demand for runway models who know how to walk and pose properly. There are plenty of opportunities for a model in India once he or she has broken into this very competitive business.
Step 1
First you must decide what kind of model you want to become. There are a variety of modeling jobs available in India, including high fashion, commercial, teen, and body parts. The commercial modeling industry accepts models of all shapes and sizes, while high fashion modeling is only available to those who are very tall, thin and young. You should decide what type you are best suited for before you apply.
Step 2
Prepare two photos, a closeup of your face and a full-body shot, to send to modeling agencies in India. If you are considering body parts modeling (i.e. legs and torso), prepare photos of the specific body parts. The photos should portray your appearance accurately. In fact, it's best to not have any makeup on, so the agency can see exactly what you look like.
Step 3

Step 4
Visit a few modeling agencies in person. Sometimes it's best for the agency to see you in person to determine if you have potential as a model. Step 5
Go to lots of go-sees and castings. A "go-see" is a brief meeting with a client or agent who then decides if the model is right for the job. At castings you will also meet recruiters, agents and clients who may be interested in booking you for a job.

Wear a bikini underneath your clothes when going to a casting or go-see. Most casting directors will want to take a closer look at your body, so be prepared.
