Lauren collections show on the New York Fashion Week runways, and top models pose for their seasonal print campaigns. Only the best of the best make it into Ralph Lauren's models line-up, and the chosen all have the right look.
Step 1
Do your research on the top agencies - Next, CLICK, Ford, or one of the other high-fashion agencies. Ralph Lauren utilizes the best of the best agencies, and you'll have to get a contract with one of them.
Step 2
Prepare for go-sees at these top agencies. Suitable female candidates are 5' 9" to 5' 11", wear a size 2 or 4 and have very exotic looks. Males should be 5' 10" to 6' 2" with a slender but toned build; slightly pretty or feminine features with masculine angles is popular. Bring a comp card or snapshots and be ready to wait for hours to meet an agent.
Step 3
If signed by the agency, express interest in working a Ralph Lauren campaign. When shooting sample pictures and making comp cards, make certain that a photograph with a preppy feel is included. Ralph Lauren has a lot of elegant, sexy yet classic clothing, and uses models that have a wealthy, refined and elite appearance. Do research into their recent models: Nacho Figueras, Ubah Hassan, and Abbey Lee Kersaw are some names to look up.
Step 4
Show up for the go-sees at the production office on time and ready to show your stuff. Bring your portfolio and wear something reminiscent of their latest campaign. Better yet, ask your agency if they have any Ralph Lauren clothing in the "model closet" that you can wear.
Step 5
Ask your booker or agent to inquire about every aspect of Ralph Lauren modeling, whether it be runway, print advertising or catalog. Be persistent.
