Overview
When the term "model" is used, many people generally think of a long, thin body frame with a great deal of height. However, famous models like Kate Moss and Twiggy, who both have a height range of 5'4 to 5'6, have become successful in the modeling industry despite being shorter than their fellow models.
Step 1
Enhance your positive attributes. Try highlighting and focusing on other features like eyes, hair, and face shape to draw attention away from your height.
Step 2
Perfect your poses. Posing is very important because it brings life and depth to a picture, and perfect posing can secure more work for you even if height does play a factor in your desire to be a model. Diligently practicing your poses in a mirror will put you above other models that have less talent in that area.
Step 3
Exude confidence. Inner confidence becomes clearly visible in photo shoots, and being self conscious about your height will not only be evident, but it will also lower your chances of garnering steady work with clients that would prefer to work with a model that was less self conscious. It is important to remember that maintaining a positive, confident attitude about yourself is just as important as your outer beauty.
Step 4
Expand your options. There is more to modeling than simply high fashion and runway. You can increase your chances of becoming successful by looking at other types of modeling like commercial, glamour, and petite modeling. These types of modeling have more lenient requirements regarding height.
Step 5
Look for an agency that is willing to work with your height. You may need to repeatedly submit photos to several different agencies before being accepted by one that feels you can achieve success with your height. Remember that rejection is common in the modeling industry, and it does not represent a final decision. Keep submitting photos with different agencies until you are accepted.
