Overview
The UK has produced many top models in the past several decades, including Kate Moss, Stella Tennant, Naomi Campbell and Agyness Deyn. Thousands of young girls in the UK try to achieve this type of modeling success every year, but only a few make it. It takes a lot of hard work and a dose of good luck to become a model in the UK.
Step 1
Prepare photos to send to modeling agencies. You should have at least three photos: one close-up smiling, one close-up not smiling and one full body shot. The photos don't have to be professionally taken, but they do have to give an accurate portrayal of your appearance, meaning they shouldn't be Photoshopped or airbrushed.
Step 2
Move to London. If you are truly serious about becoming a model in the UK, you should consider relocating to live in London. Most of the major modeling agencies in the UK are located in London as are many of the major photographers, magazine editors and designers who may potentially hire you.
Step 3
Send your photos to modeling agencies. You can mail them, email them or upload them directly onto the modeling agency's website. A modeling agent from the agency will be in touch with you if the agency is interested in you.
Step 4
Sign with a modeling agency and get an agent. This is one of the most important steps any aspiring model can take. A modeling agency will help you find jobs by sending you to castings with potential clients. A modeling agent will give you tips on how to dress and how to behave during the casting to boost your chances of getting hired. Agents will also give you information on upcoming castings that you can't find on your own without some major contacts in the business.
Step 5
Attend castings and go-sees. These are brief meetings with clients who are looking for a model to represent their brand or product. If they like you in person and your photos, you have a great chance of being hired for a lucrative job.
TIPS AND WARNINGS
- TIP : Make sure to take very good care of your body and skin. Keep your body fit and your skin blemish-free.
Don't give up. If you think you have the potential to be a model, don't let a few rejections dishearten you.
- WARNING : Don't ever sign with an agency that tries to take money from you up front. No legitimate modeling agency will ever ask you to pay for anything.
