Overview

how become torrid model : Overview
Torrid is a plus-size clothing company with chain stores nationwide and a thriving online store. It is always looking for models sizes 12 to 20 to advertise their attire. Getting a gig modeling for their website, print ads and TV spots can be a great opportunity.

Step 1

Make sure you are in the right location, and that you are the right size and the right age. You need to be 16 to model for Torrid. Models must be plus-sized, which is between sizes 12 and 20. Models must be able to reach the Torrid offices in Southern California by their own means. The interviews---or "go-sees"---are scheduled for weekdays during normal business hours.

Step 2

Take a good look at yourself. Being plus-sized is not enough; you still have to fit an extremely high standard of beauty. And you must be prepared for rejection on any number of criteria.

Step 3

If you are already a working model, contact your agent about working for Torrid. Your agent can send them your portfolio and head shots and work with the recruiters to get you a go-see.

Step 4

If you aren't yet a professional model, Torrid could be a good place to start because they are open to hiring models who have no representation. The first step to your modeling career is to get professional photos taken. This includes head shots and full-body shots. Though a talented friend can take these photos, it's always a good investment to get your portfolio pics created by a professional photographer.

Step 5

To apply for a modeling gig, send an application package to the Torrid offices. Include your best head shot and full-body shot. Also include a cover letter expressing your interest in modeling for the company, contact information, your measurements, and clothing and shoe sizes. Torrid's mailing address can be found on their website (see Additional Resources).

Step 6

Visit the Torrid website regularly to find out about modeling contests. These take place both in Southern California and in cities across the country. So even if you don't live near their offices, Torrid may just come to you.

Step 7

Be patient when waiting for a reply about your application. If you don't hear back within a month, you can email or call the offices and gently inquire.
