What Are the Requirements to Become a Model?

Overview

what requirements become model? : Overview
There are several requirements to become a model. These requirements are set by a modeling industry that is very concerned with keeping things uniform. Modeling shoots and fashion shows usually involve several models wearing a variety of interchangeable clothes. It is important that the models be about the same size for the convenience of photographers and designers.

Print Models

Requirements to become a mainstream fashion print model are different for women and men. Women should be 15 to 25 years old, at least 5 feet 7 inches tall, and a size 4 or smaller. Men should be 16 to 30 years old, at least 5 feet 10 inches tall, and have a lean, muscular body. Both men and women must have a nice complexion, defined features and a confident demeanor.

Runway Models

Requirements to become a runway fashion model are different for women and men. Women must be at least 16 years old, be 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet tall, and have a very thin frame. Men must also be at least 16 years old, be at least 6 feet tall, and have lean, well-defined muscles. The average chest size of a male runway model is 44 inches. The average waist size is 34 inches. All runway fashion models must be stunningly beautiful, with very sharp features and clear eyes. They must be able to work in high-pressure situations and strut with confidence.

Plus-Size Models

Requirements to become a plus-size model are different than for mainstream models, but they are just as strict. Plus-size models should be 16 to 30 years old, between 5 feet 7 and 6 feet tall, and between sizes 12 and 18. Plus-size models should have faces just as striking as those of mainstream models. Their proportions should also be similar. Bust and hip measurements should be about the same, with the waist measurement about two-thirds of that.

Child Models

Requirements to become a child model have more to do with personality than appearance. Child models must be good at following directions. If the child will not stand still or pose as instructed, they are of no use as a model. If the model is a baby, she has to be able to work with a stranger without crying. Babies who cling to their mothers and suffer separation anxiety cannot be models. Other than that, any cute kid can be a child model. All sizes and ages are needed.

Other Models

Requirements to become other types of models depend on the category. Height and measurements for maternity models and elderly models are not nearly as important as long as the model is attractive. Most models in these categories were fashion models when they were younger, so the transition is easy. Parts models can be any age or size, as long as their modeled part is flawless. Many parts models specialize in hands, legs, eyes or mouth.
