Overview

how shop fashionable clothes budget : Overview
Everyone likes to look fashionable, but often clothing is priced far above what the budget will allow for spending. By doing a bit of detective work, you can shop for fashionable clothes without breaking the bank. Finding fashionable clothing for a fraction of the retail cost is not only possible, it is also a way to look your best no matter what the season may be.

Step 1

Shop online catalogs. Many clothing manufacturers have retail stores online. Most offer daily, weekly or monthly clearance sales where you can find current clothing trends at bargain prices. Many stores will also mark items for clearance online before their brick-and-mortar stores do.

Step 2

Check eBay if there is a particular clothing item you want. Type the brand name and a descriptive word, such as "L.L. Bean khaki pants," into the eBay search box to see if someone is offering the item for sale.

Step 3

Shop upscale consignment stores. These stores are often located in strip malls near upper-income suburban neighborhoods or in fashionable shopping districts around your town.

Step 4

Shop at Goodwill or other charity thrift shops. Many times, new or gently used clothing will be donated and offered for sale at a greatly reduced price.

Step 5

Locate outlet stores for your favorite retailers. Many designers and clothing lines sell their products through outlet stores. Some have their own stores, while others sell clothing discounts at outlet malls or stores such as Burlington Coat Factory. This information can usually be found at the retailer's online website or can be a hidden find at an outlet mall.

TIPS AND WARNINGS

  • TIP : Upscale consignment shops, more often than not, deal in brand-name fashions only. That designer outfit you want may be found at 50 percent or more off the retail price. Since children grow quickly, Goodwill is often a great place to find new and used brand name children's clothing. Many times, you can purchase an entire season of clothing for your child for the price of a single outfit purchased new. You can also host a clothing swap party with your friends and neighbors. Everyone brings the clothing they either no longer want or have outgrown. Each person at the party gets to trade her clothing for someone else's.
